Brief Overview

This class provides the foundation for installing, configuring, and using Double-Take®in a Microsoft Windows environment. Additionally, you will practice using some of Double-Take’s key features including Double-Take Command Language, orphan file control, bandwidth limiting, advanced scripting options, and compression. You will also learn how to use the Double-Take Reporting Center for statistical analysis and how to use various Performance Monitor tools for troubleshooting.This class includes hands-on labs for learning how to use the Double-Take Server Recovery Option, Full Server Failover for complete server protection, and the Double-Take Application Manager for both MS SQL Server and MS Exchange.

Detailed Course Overview

The course is designed to provide individuals with the necessary knowledge to be competent and confident in implementing and administering Double Take solutions. This course will help you to gain a broad range of hands-on experience implementing data protection strategies across multiple storage environments.

This class provides the foundation for installing, configuring, and using Double Take in a Windows environment. Through a series of lectures and hands-on lab exercises, you will learn how to correctly install and implement Double Take to ensure success in most business environments.


Class Prerequisites

This class is designed for a wide variety of individuals, from sales personnel to system engineers. You are most likely to have success in this class if you possess the following skills:

Have intermediate knowledge of the Windows 2003/2008 Server interface and familiarity with its terminology including connecting to network shares, using the Windows Explorer to cut, paste, copy files, add or connect to network shares/drives, and navigate the Windows operating system without instruction.

Have experience with graphical user administration tools on a network Have hands-on experience with computer hardware and software. Have installed Windows 2003/2008 Server and service packs. Use the Windows event viewer to troubleshoot system issues.

Application-level labs for failover using Double Take, High-Availability for MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 using Double Take, and the Exchange Protection Wizard (XPW) are included in this class.
